Chiral nanostructures are promising materials for novel applications in nonlinear optics, sensing or in asymmetric catalysis. Interaction of these materials with light strongly depends on the polarization state of the latter. Specifically circularly polarized light is of outmost interest. This research team explores achiral and chiral nanocrystals by means of circular dichroism spectroscopy, time resolved fluorescence and absorption techniques. By investigating spin dynamics and circular dichroism, we aim to get a fundamental understanding of the peculiar interaction of chiral nanostructures with circularly polarized light.
